Resumo

The optimal siting of an airport plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and safe air transportation systems. This paper aims to address the problem of airport site selection by extending geometric considerations presented in a methodology called MESA (Airport Site Selection Methodology, in the Portuguese acronym). Specifically, the study proposes a computational model to search for optimal airport sites based on inputs such as the search region (SR), topography (TOP), unfeasible areas (EXC), undesirable areas (AVD) and approximation surfaces (AIR), based on obstacle control regulations. By considering these factors, the proposed approach aims to identify suitable airport locations that meet regulatory requirements and optimizes site suitability. The model was implemented in Python language and the preliminary results indicate that feasible solutions can be attained in relatively short processing times.
