Resumo
En todo el mundo, existe un creciente interés en el uso y consumo adecuado de materias primas sostenibles que se basen en el reciclaje y reutilización de polímeros derivados del petróleo y otros materiales reciclados, como laminas a partir de colaminados. En Colombia, es común la oferta de viviendas construidas con estos materiales a personas de bajos recursos, así como la oferta de muebles y equipamiento para viviendas, escuelas, universidades y lugares de trabajo. Estas "alternativas sostenibles" parecen ser una solución atractiva para los problemas ambientales, sin embargo, es importante considerar los posibles impactos ambientales y de salud pública que puedan derivarse de su uso. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de nuestro proyecto de investigación es analizar las emisiones de COVs de materiales poliméricos "sostenibles" como placas ABS (Acrilonitrilo Butadieno Estireno), láminas de grifería, madera plástica, vinilo y colaminados (polialuminio), y evaluar sus posibles impactos ambientales y de salud. Para ello, se ha diseñado y fabricado un prototipo de cámara de medición de compuestos orgánicos acoplando una serie de sensores para COVs. Los resultados han mostrado la presencia de gases como CO, NO2, NH3 y material particulado, algunos sobre los límites permitidos de exposición humana concluyendo que las emisiones de algunos COVs pueden representar un riesgo potencial tanto para la salud ambiental como para la salud humana. Es fundamental seguir investigando para encontrar alternativas sostenibles que no comprometan la salud y el bienestar de las personas y el medio ambiente.
